Now that the Town has begun publishing Council Agenda's in multiple forums  I am considering shutting down this website.  I would like to hear from you if you believe this site is of value and should be maintained.  Please email me with your thoughts soon.

A Vision for Our Town

Like many in our community I came to Washington as a result of a military affiliation.  The United States Air Force moved my father and our family to Washington in 1970.  I moved to Lakewood in 1972 and to Steilacoom in 1994.  I am a product of local schools having graduated from Lakes High School ('75), Fort Steilacoom Community College ('78 -now Pierce College), Pacific Lutheran University (BBA, '94), and Seattle University School of Law (JD, '00).

I have worked or lived near or in Steilacoom for over 30 years and my wife and I love our community.  The pioneering spirit of Steilacoom's forefathers and the present vision of self-sufficiency are important attributes of our unique community requiring conservation.  I believe our town needs leadership committed to remaining fiscally responsible, keeping conscious of our limited resources, and staying true to our pioneer roots by being innovative and open to new ideas so that, like our founders, we can capitalize on opportunities to enhance our community for the benefit of its citizenry.  I hope you will provide your input and energy to achieving that vision.

About Me

I was born in Landstuhl, Germany to Jerry C. and Ursula H. Stovall.  My father served in the U.S. Air Force and my family moved frequently during my early life, as many military families do.  This experience was an invaluable exposure to multiple cultural, social and economic conditions.  While I have passed through almost all of the individual United States, significant other stops included Germany, Texas, the Philippine Islands, and California before ending in Washington State.  My family moved to Lakewood in 1972 where my brothers and I attended school.  I married Shelly Gimse in 1988 and in 1994 we built our home in Steilacoom.  Several people have asked, and the answer is yes, all photographs on this site (except the portrait) are photos by me.
